Traveling to Egypt can be handled through a number of means depending on where you are coming from in the world. Egypt boast a rail system, modern airports, sea ports, and highways. The important thing to remember though is that you’re going to want to work with someone in the Travel Industry with lots of experience booking tours to Egypt. We personally recommend only staying at 5 star hotels and cruises while in Egypt. The 5 star ratings from the Government require much stricter sanitary conditions in the areas of food preparation and facilities that can mean the difference between a great experience to Egypt versus one that leaves you indoors more than out.
Once you are in Egypt work with your hotel concierge to book local tours, find the best restaurants, and local hang outs. Be sure to always ask for the best price and carry small coins or paper money for “Baksheesh”. Baksheesh are tips that are expected for everything and from everyone. The Baksheesh start on the low end for a doorman or a bathroom attendant and go higher when you get to a concierge or hotel manager. When in doubt, ask your concierge to explain to you how the Baksheesh works so you don’t pay too much or worse yet, insult someone and pay too little!
